Summary of case: The employer cannot do without Mansfields services, ice is needed for the fishing industry and national food demands. The employer produced a petition in support of Mansfield, signed by c.50 fish merchants, fishing boat captains etc. Other points if proper storage was not available, fishing boats would go to other ports, thus affecting Scarborough trade.
