TitleLetter relating to the state of [John] Meek's health
DescriptionLetter from four residents of Knayton to Trevor esquire suggesting that if he knew the state of chief constable Meek's health, he would not require his attendance at the forthcoming Sessions. He is unequal to the journey although it is short, and he is liable to attacks in the head from remains of erysipelas which would be worsened by the jolting of the carriage. He is feeble and unequal to excitement, being 83 years 7 months old. He is still capable of carrying out the clerk's work of his office, and has been a useful, faithful public servant for many years. They ask that Meek should be relieved from an attendance that may prematurely shorten his life.
Signed by the vicar of Leake, a churchwarden and a Guardian, and endorsed by Meek's doctor
