Description | Bill of indictment of William Laking late of the township of Stokesley labourer and clerk of works for the inhabitants of the North Riding for the rebuilding of Bence Bridge, and known as such to James White Worsley esquire, Bridge Master and Surveyor of Bridges for the North Riding. Laking falsely pretended to Worsley that he had paid Joseph Oxley, William Passman, James Cook, George Williamson, William Wells, William Walker and John Dale £10 each as labourers at the rate of 2s 9d per day for 100 days, and so defrauded the inhabitants of the North Riding
