Description | Bill of indictment of John Banks late of the parish of Brafferton labourer for taking grass which has been distrained in lieu of rent
On 30 July 1811 at the parish of Brafferton Christopher Newstead of the hamlet of Marygate in the parish of St Olave gentleman as agent and steward for the Society for the Conversion and Religious Instruction and Education of the Negro Slaves in the British West India Islands distrained grass value £8 from a close called Spring Close in the parish of Brafferton the property of William Jackson, the close being in the occupation of John Banks as tenant of the Society. Banks owed £26 15s for rent
