Description | By an order dated 14 October 1809, Sarah Palliser singlewoman was removed from the township of South Kilvington to the township of Sessay. The order was reversed on appeal
Sarah Palliser, having gained a settlement at the township of Sessay, was hired by Thomas Brignall in July 1804 to serve him at South Kilvington until Martinmas following at a wage of £3 10s
At Martinmas, Brignall's mother asked Palliser to stay at least another year, which she agreed to do. Brignall had not given his mother authority to hire Palliser, and he had not intended to continue her employment. After Martinmas, Palliser several times asked Brignall to hire her but he refused to do so as he wished to prevent her gaining a settlement
In October 1805 Palliser was found to be pregnant and was dismissed, having been paid her wages at the rate agreed in July 1804 |
