TitleDraft order relating to bread
DescriptionDraft order of the Justices that for the space of three months beginning on 17 February next, no maker of bread will sell bread that purports to be of superior quality or sold at a higher price than the standard wheaten bread, which shall weigh three-quarters of the weight of the wheat from which it is made. Because of the present high price of bread, the Justices engage not to consume any sort of bread other than the standard wheaten bread, to avoid the superfluous use of grain

With a note that the Justices realise that the order extends only to bread for sale, and if only standard wheaten bread was used by private families, it would tend to reduce the high price of wheat. They also recommend reducing the consumption of wheat by mixing wheat flour with flour made from rye, barley, oats, beans, peas or other wholesome grain
