Summary of case: ‘This man has been the foreman and is now the Manager of the firm’s bottling stores which supply the whole of the company’s houses in Middlesbrough and district with bottled beer and stout. Until recently we had a resident agent who was responsible for this department, but is now deceased, consequently Collins is in sole charge ; with his exception the whole of the employees are girls and unless the stores are to be closed we must have someone to do the supervising and clerical work, and Collins is the only man available.’ [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/4649]
