Summary of case: The appellant states that they require a person of experience and reliability who is fully conversant with the affairs of the Society and the various regulations controlling Industrial Societies. If Mr Jenkinson were taken for military service, great difficulty would be experienced in continuing the business. Mr Jenkinson was granted exemption on 8 November 1916 when the Society by arrangement with the military representative gave up other men. On 2 October 1917 the exemption was withdrawn by the local tribunal as such an agreement was never intended to last for all time.
