Summary of case: Cuss has syphilis which would require treatment for two years. Dr Mowbray Taylor said “this disease may easily be transmitted by fork or spoon, towel or blanket, brush or cap and a variety of ways”. Cuss was divorced and was now responsible for two young children without any help. He had a motor lorry so he undertook local deliveries, as well as being a licensed victualler.
