Summary of case: Appellant explains in great detail the details of his wife's illness as she suffers from pulmonary tuberculosis. She requires open air treatment at the sanatorium and extra nutrition, all of which costs a lot of money. He states the army separation allowance and government relief scheme would be inadequate to enable him to provide the necessary treatment. The Local tribunal state that this is a very hard case but as he has been passed for general service and has not been asked for by his employers, the tribunal felt it was their duty to let him go to the army.
