Summary of case: Kitching said he was rejected when he attested under the Derby Scheme. He was classified as fit only for Garrison Service at home, at that time. He said he was needed to work on three estates, repairing tenants' homes. If called up he would have to sell his stock and let the land. He was also in the Volunteer Training Corps and sought a conditional exemption. This was granted by the local tribunal, but the military representative appealed.
